Ragdoll Halloween World
This was the first time I was ever asked to do paid development work for a company. Getting paid to do game development has been a dream of mine for many years now, and thanks to the team over at Skyreacher, this dream turned into a reality.
What is Skyreacher? Well, Skyreacher is a company that accepts commissions from already existing companies that want work done on their games. for example, skyreacher would accept a commission from a Roblox game studio to complete a new feature or add a new level to the game that would be added to the game at a later date, skyreacher would then use the resources they have to make this happen (pay people that work for them to complete aspects of the commission) this means, for instance, I would get a small cut of the total pay to build a new world, while a scripter gets paid a cut to do the scripting sides of the commission.
The game we were working on was Obby But You're a Ragdoll. In this game, the objective was to complete a parkour-style game (obby) while your character was a ragdoll.
The game was very simple before we were hired to edit it. The game consisted of 1 world that had 130 or so stages and when you finished the game, there was nothing further to do.
Thats where we come in.
The first out of four jobs we were hired to do was a Halloween update, my job in this update was to make the actual Halloween world! The objective was simple, a normal obby, just with Halloween assets mixed in
As seen in the image, this was the first stage and it consisted of simple a bridge with pumpkins around it
Above are some of my favorite stages out of the 40 we were required to make (some of my other favorites are in the videos below).
In the first photo, you use a slide to slide down and you have to aim into the pumpkin’s mouth. In the second photo, you have to jump from gravestone to gravestone avoiding the lava. In the third photo, you must jump into the correct grave to live. In the fourth photo, you must use a trampoline to jump into the pumpkin’s mouth… again
In the stage above, the ghosts move from platform to platform with the aim of hitting the player off the platform
In the stage above, the spooky fences move up and down! gives a really satisfying effect imo
Simply a dark spinner you must run through! not very Halloween-themed, but it was too cool to not include it here
This is the final stage, you must shoot yourself, using a cannon, onto the finishing pad! with a giant spider right underneath you! 100% my favorite out of the entire Halloween world!
Overall I had a lot of fun designing this world! due to Halloween being over, the Halloween-themed items are gone, but you can still play the actual stages in the world!
